POINTS OF VIEW – Technology takes command
Intelligence is central to Carlo Ratti's architecture biennale in Venice. Now that we can rely less and less on the climate, we need buildings that can adapt to the environment, is Ratti's central thesis. AI and sustainability technologies play a crucial role in fit suitable environments for human activities.
This once again poses the question for architects as to how they relate to new technologies and their turbulent development. Do they embrace the new forms of life that these technologies enable and produce, or will they scale back technology's share as much as possible?
We asked five architects to explain, using a project as an example, how they envisage the relationship between architecture and technology, tradition and modernity, insight and intelligence.

gmp International GmbH,
www.gmp.de
In this presentation, we will explore the evolving forms of collaboration in design and project realisation. From design & build, PPP, and IPD to the early involvement of execution, we will demonstrate how new cooperation models help address the increasing complexity of planning processes. We also take a look at international perspectives and present examples from gmp projects that have been realised or are in the planning stage using various models.

Good lighting is anything but standard
Lecture by Sophia Klees
jack be nimble Berlin,
www.jackbenimble.de
Lighting design occurs at the intersection of human needs and specific spaces. Given infinite combinations of constraints, we must increasingly rely on customized products and unique approaches. What role does customization play in good lighting design and how can we incorporate deviations into the design workflow?

AT HOME: IN THE CITY
Can our cities become livable again?
Lecture by Susanne Schamp
Schamp & Partner Architekten Stadtplaner PartGmbB
www.schamp-partner.de
Constantly changing living conditions, the need for climate-friendly renovation of existing buildings, and political challenges set the parameters for planners. At the same time, the focus on people and their diverse needs is often neglected. Beyond an architecture of transformation, what does a truly livable city need?

ARCHITECTURE AS A WHOLE From crafts to programming
Lecture by Werner Sübai
Senior Partner HPP Architects
www.hpp.com
Werner Sübai will be discussing the increasing complexity in architecture, using the Vitruvian triad principles of beauty (venustas), utility (utilitas), and strength (firmitas) as a foundation. These principles have long been considered the cornerstones of good architectural design. However, can the simplicity of these principles still serve as a guiding framework? How is the complexity of social, ecological and economic dependencies changing conditions today?

Sustainability in Focus – Three Perspectives
Lecture by (Pictures f.l.t.r.):
Dipl.-Ing. Architekt Hanns-Jochen Weyland, Associate Partner bei Störmer Murphy partners, Hamburg
Dipl.-Ing. Architekt Jörg Fuhrmann, Hamburg
Dipl.-Ing Uwe A. Carstensen, Concepts - urban development, urban remodelling, building culture, Hamburg
Sustainability aspects are becoming increasingly important in the development and use of buildings. A discussion between Hanns-Jochen Weyland, Jörg Fuhrmann, and Uwe A. Carstensen explores whether and how the perspectives of project developers, architects, and building users align or differ. What innovations can support the integration of these differing perspectives?
