1. DO YOU HAVE A DREAM DESTINATION OR TRAVEL TIP?

It is as if our house on Capri is stuck to Monte Solaro and can only be reached on foot. The mountain is made of the same limestone as the Dolomites, my home. I really enjoy the early morning hikes to its summit. In Sicily they say ‘Il corpo come la montagna, gli occhi come il mare’ – which means ‘your body is like a mountain, your eyes like the sea’. These are two worlds that are actually in juxtaposition, but become one in the body. The sunrise at the Monte Solaro, the fragrances and the view of the sea make up for any effort. Nature, water, wind and the horizon. Rilke described this beautifully in this poem ‘Lied vom Meer’ (Song of the Sea). The view from the isolated village of Santa Maria a Cetrella is simply

2. WHAT DOES TRAVELLING MEAN TO YOU?

Travelling stimulates my imagination but I get the best ideas in the shower.

3. ON FOOT, BY BIKE, CAR, TRAIN, SHIP OR PLANE?

I mostly travel for business reasons preferably with a book to read on the train, if that's possible. But my favourite way to travel is on foot. I love the simplicity of getting around this way.

4. WHAT IS YOUR MUST HAVE ITEM IN YOUR LUGGAGE?

I don't need any luggage...
