Waldkliniken Eisenberg's Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre

5 min read

Waldkliniken Eisenberg in the German state of Thuringia is one of the most highly regarded orthopaedic hospitals in the country. Based in a striking, cylindrical building designed by the world-renowned Milanese architect Matteo Thun, Managing Director David-Ruben Thies and his team have made a name for the hospital in the region and beyond. The hospital offers patients and guests the highest standards of medical care and facilities equivalent to a five-star hotel. With the construction of the new Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre, the hospital is now building on this concept to offer patients the perfect place to recuperate.

The new Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre is directly adjacent to the iconic Waldkliniken Eisenberg building.

The rooms in the new building have been designed to create a harmonious environment for guests – regardless of whether they have statutory or private health insurance. And guests will also find KEUCO represented in the high-quality bathroom equipment – which was also used in the construction of the Centre for Orthopaedics. The rooms and bathrooms provide guests, or patients, with safety, comfort and functionality during their rehabilitation, which is required after a hospital stay.

Patients are treated as guests at Waldkliniken Eisenberg and its Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre, and their stay should feel equivalent to a hotel experience. Surrounded by Thuringia's famous greenery, the centre transfers the soothing and healing power of the environment into its interiors. All single rooms are equipped with large windows. Lots of wood and soft, natural tones dominate the interior design and contribute to well-being.

The rooms offer outstanding facilities, the likes of which are normally found in a premium hotel. The high standards of interior design continue into the bathrooms. All of the centre's bathrooms are equipped with high-quality KEUCO fittings and accessories. These features clearly demonstrate that barrier-free bathroom solutions – such as the KEUCO PLAN Care and AXESS series – can be stylish, too.

The AXESS series was created in close cooperation with Studio F. A. Porsche. The minimalist design, focused on the essentials, combines aesthetics and barrier-free functionality in a stylish and innovative way. At the same time, the special functions are not directly apparent. Uniquely, the drop-down supporting rail sits flat against the wall when folded up, making it unlike any other drop-down support rail of its kind.

Thanks to the intricate structure of the inlay, the plastic is particularly easy to grip and prevents slipping when supporting or holding on. Toilet paper holders attached to the drop-down supporting rail allow direct access without having to turn or bend down to reach the paper.

Rooms from every category are equipped with stylish and modern bathrooms that still meet the demands of a hospital. Ease of cleaning in the bathroom is also particularly important here. Thanks to their perfect surface finish, KEUCO products are particularly easy to clean and durable – regardless of whether they are chrome-plated or have an aluminium finish.

Room for patients with statutory health insurance

The bright, welcoming colours of the rooms continue into the bathrooms. Comfortable and safe equipment is always the focus here – reflected in features like the floor-level shower with the PLAN series railing system and the toilet with the AXESS drop-down support handles. A particularly practical feature is the walking stick holder, which acts as a safe space to store walking aids when not needed, for example, when patients are on the toilet or showering. The washbasins and mirrors were manufactured by KEUCO based on the customer's specifications.

Accessible patient room

Accessible patient rooms are even more spacious and meet all requirements for appropriate bathroom design.

Room for patients with private health insurance

A darker colour scheme and KEUCO bathroom equipment with an aluminium finish await the patient, or guest, staying in a room with private health insurance. The bathroom also includes an iLook_move cosmetics mirror and a KEUCO PLAN hair dryer. The oak leaf is also immortalised here on the PLAN blue fittings for the washbasin. The washbasins and mirrors in these rooms were also manufactured by KEUCO according to the customer's specifications.

Suite for patients with private health insurance

The high-quality bathrooms in the patient suites look like they belong in a five-star hotel. In addition to the KEUCO IXMO wall outlet mixer tap, the iLook_move cosmetics mirror with its flexible swivel arm, the PLAN hair dryer, and the PLAN Integral paper towel dispenser also offer additional comfort at the spacious washbasin.

As in all patient rooms, AXESS drop-down support handles are fitted next to the toilet. When they are not in use, they can simply be folded up and sit completely flat against the wall. The PLAN toilet brush set is attached to the toilet within easy reach.

SPA area

In addition to a pool, a Kneipp hydrotherapy pool and many other facilities to promote good health, various KEUCO showers are available to guests. The powerful waterfall shower has a relaxing effect on the shoulders and back. The spa hose from KEUCO can be used for stimulating, ice-cold showers.
