Redefining comfort: A feel-good atmosphere at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic

5 min read

Located in the heart of the Alpine region of Upper Bavaria, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic is an academic teaching hospital affiliated with Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich (LMU). In the newly designed comfort ward, patients can recover in a particularly pleasant ambiance, with special services to make their stay even more comfortable. Some rooms even offer a view of the Olympic ski jump.

The furnishings and the carefully thought-out layout of the rooms and bathrooms combine the functionality of a hospital with the charm and comfort of a hotel. High-quality products, such as the bathroom furnishings from KEUCO, contribute to this special experience. Colours, woods, fabrics, and natural materials form an aesthetic unity and create a unique and stylish feel-good atmosphere.

The comfort rooms are larger than usual, flooded with light, they offer unobstructed views of natural surroundings and alpine landscapes. This was of particular importance to the RRP architects who worked on the project.

KEUCO's high-quality bathroom fittings, accessories, and cosmetic mirrors offer users a combination of functionality and stylish design. The modern matt black surfaces contrast with the sand-coloured tiles, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Marc Jung, the project manager for optional additional services at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic, is enthusiastic about the high-quality look and feel of the products: "I am particularly impressed by how well they fit into the design concept created by architectural firm RRP, and by how they accentuate its modern aesthetic."

The modern IXMO flat wall spout fitting, the PLAN hair dryer, the PLAN soap dispenser, the PLAN disinfectant dispenser and the illuminated iLook_move cosmetic mirror form a harmonious whole that complements the washbasin with its generous storage space.

Thanks to fivefold magnification and all-around LED lighting, it may also be put to good use by those with impaired vision. The innovative hinge technology also makes it easier to see the cosmetic mirror while seated.

The accessible showers are equipped with innovative IXMO fittings that combine several functions in a small space. The height-adjustable hand shower and large shower head provide for perfect showering comfort. The shower slider can be unlocked and moved up or down by simply pressing the back with one hand. The shower head rotates freely left and right in the holder and can be tilted into different positions.

Wellness in everyday hospital life: The KEUCO shower light is a luminaire with integrated shower head. It promotes a patient's well-being through the interaction of light and water. The KEUCO luminaire with integrated shower head is intuitively controlled via a room button.

Designed by Studio F. A. Porsche, the Axess grab rail system offers shower safety and helps those who shower while seated to stand up. The AXESS shower rail also serves as a sturdy grab bar, providing a feeling of safety at all times. The PLAN shower seat allows patients to shower in complete comfort and safety. The large, slightly contoured seat and sturdy wall-mounting bracket make sitting very comfortable. In the black matt bathroom ambience, shower care products find their place in a wall niche.

Patient comfort and safety were also key considerations in the design of the toilet area. The PLAN toilet roll holder and the PLAN long handle toilet brush set are mounted at the optimum height.

In addition to their timeless and sophisticated design, all KEUCO products are easy to clean with clear contours and straight lines. In addition to flawless surfaces, the excellent workmanship and quality of KEUCO fittings and accessories guarantee maximum durability.

The spacious, modern bathrooms in the comfort ward at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic demonstrate how the functionality of a hospital room can be combined with the comfort of a hotel room to create an aesthetically pleasing space.
