Exhibition tip: Out of Storage

2 min read

For four decades, the Friends of DAM have been helping to expand the museum's collection in a targeted manner – through mediation, purchases, and donations of plans, models, drawings, photographs, and much more. With “Out of Storage”, these objects are now being presented for the first time in a dedicated exhibition, which can be visited from November 22, 2025, to March 1, 2026.

On display are over 130 works from the 20th and 21st centuries by renowned architects such as Archigram, Future Systems, Bruce Goff, Hans Poelzig, and Hans Scharoun. The exhibition not only provides an insight into the diversity and quality of the collection, but also invites reflection on the collecting and preservation of architecture: What role do archives play as repositories of knowledge? How can collections be made accessible and what inspiration do they provide for new designs and ways of thinking?

International curators and collection directors, including representatives from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Korean Museum of Urbanism and Architecture, also offer new perspectives on the significance and potential of archives in interviews.
