All about the Biennale

For over 120 years, the Biennale di Venezia has been one of the most renowned exhibitions and has also included the International Architecture Exhibition since 1980. This is based on the national pavilions, the international exhibition of curators and side events. Diverse forms of expression have ensured that the area has been continuously expanded to include the Giardini and the Arsenale.

Giardini and Arsenale

There are 29 pavilions from various nations in the Giardini. In 2009, as part of the reorganisation, the historic central pavilion became the landmark of all the other pavilions. Since 1980, the Arsenale - once Venice's largest naval production centre - has also been an exhibition venue and is home to other national pavilions.

Architecture Biennale 2025

This year's Architecture Biennale is curated by the Italian architect and engineer Carlo Ratti - under the motto ‘Intelligens. Artificial, Natural, Collective’. The focus is on architecture as a tool against climate change. Technological innovations, intelligent urban planning and collective approaches to solutions are intended to show new ways forward.

The German Pavilion picks up on this theme and makes the effects of climate change directly tangible. Curated by TEAM STRESSTEST, it focuses on the overheating of cities and nature.

The curators of the German Pavilion will be our guests at the Palazzo on Sunday 11 May at 12:00 P.M. and will be sharing everything you need to know about their exhibition concept in a discussion with Prof. Jan R. Krause.
